Born in 1972 in New Jersey, Twisted Sister wasn't your average heavy metal band. They combined face-melting riffs with outrageous costumes, glam makeup, and a surprising dose of humor. Fronted by the flamboyant Dee Snider, they became iconic for anthems of youthful rebellion like "We're Not Gonna Take It," a fist-pumping rallying cry against authority.

Their music wasn't all rebellious rage, though. "I Wanna Rock" was a goofy ode to the pure joy of loud music, with its goofy video featuring Snider in ripped denim and an upside-down guitar. They tackled social issues too, with "Burn in Hell" condemning drug abuse and "Stay Hungry" urging listeners to chase their dreams.

Despite their theatrical costumes and humorous edge, Twisted Sister were skilled musicians. Guitarist Jay Jay French laid down face-melting solos, while Eddie Ojeda's riffs drove their sound. Mark "The Animal" Mendoza's powerful bass and AJ Pero's driving drums provided a rock-solid foundation.

Their 1984 album "Stay Hungry" catapulted them to superstardom, thanks to MTV airplay of their iconic videos. They toured nonstop, bringing their electrifying stage show to the world. Though they officially disbanded in 2016, their music and message continue to resonate with fans of all ages. So, crank up "I Wanna Rock," put on some bright eyeshadow, and remember: "We're not gonna take it!"
