Ratt, an American glam metal band formed in Los Angeles in the late 1970s, achieved immense commercial success during the 1980s. Their music, characterized by catchy hooks, flamboyant visuals, and energetic live performances, resonated with a generation of rock fans.
Ratt's classic lineup consisted of Stephen Pearcy on vocals, Robbin Crosby and Warren DeMartini on guitars, Juan Croucier on bass, and Bobby Blotzer on drums. They released their self-titled debut album in 1983, which spawned the hit single "Round and Round." This song, along with subsequent hits like "Wanted Man," "You're in Love," and "Lay It Down," established Ratt as a major force in the glam metal scene.
Throughout the 1980s, Ratt released a string of successful albums, including "Invasion of Privacy" (1985), "Dancing Under the Moonlight" (1986), and "Reach for the Light" (1988). These albums showcased the band's evolution, incorporating more complex songwriting and production while retaining their signature sound. However, internal conflicts and personal struggles led to the band's breakup in 1991.
Despite several reunions and lineup changes over the years, Ratt has never fully recaptured the commercial success of their 1980s heyday. However, their music continues to be enjoyed by fans of classic rock and glam metal, and their influence on the genre is undeniable.
